SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES

Discreet examination of the most common venereal diseases

The first symptoms most often appear in the genital area or at the point of entry of the infection as some discomfort, discharge, rash or sores. Untreated sexually transmitted infections can cause serious health complications, cancer, infertility, affect the course of pregnancy or cause permanent damage to the fetus. The most common bacterial infections include gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, while viral infections include HIV (AIDS), human papillomavirus (HPV), herpes, hepatitis B, C and others.

Most sexually transmitted diseases are highly infectious, and although some may be asymptomatic for some time, they pose a significant risk not only to the infected person but also to their intimate contacts. Risky sexual behaviour and promiscuity are particularly responsible for the increase in STDs. A major risk is posed by asymptomatic individuals who may not know they have the disease but spread it. It is therefore essential to take particular care to prevent and behave responsibly and to get tested regularly. Testing is appropriate for all sexually active people, especially those with risky behaviour or contacts, even if they have no symptoms. All tests can be done anonymously.

Sexually transmitted diseases

Sexually transmitted diseases, or STDs, are infections and diseases transmitted primarily through sexual contact. Risky sexual behaviour, primarily promiscuity and unprotected sex, is responsible for their spread. Moreover, some diseases can occur quite subtly, yet cause serious consequences. Microbiological testing will give you a clear answer as to whether you are (not) a carrier of a sexually transmitted disease. We offer a total of 7 test variants from basic to complex. Their specifications are listed below in the Detailed Information section.

You will receive the result within 5 working days.

HIV

Genetic analysis “Resistance to HIV” determines the body's resistance to infection and microbiological testing “Proof of HIV Infection” determines the presence of the virus in the body, i.e. whether or not you are HIV positive. Although HIV is highly contagious, transmission requires the presence of certain receptors in the body, in particular a receptor called CCR5, which largely determines whether or not you become infected when you have risky contact. Mutation of this receptor causes resistance to HIV.

Human papillomavirus (HPV)

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide. Some types of papillomaviruses can cause malignant and benign cancers of the cervix, genitals, head and neck, others can cause genital warts. Microbiological testing for the 24 most risky types of HPV can detect infection and associated risks before pathological changes in the body or the first symptoms appear, thus contributing significantly to the early initiation of appropriate treatment.

Syphilis

Microbiological examination for the detection of a sexually transmitted disease. Syphilis, also known as lues, is a sexually transmitted infection caused by the  Treponema pallidum bacteria.

Although transmission of the disease occurs most often through sexual contact, mother-to-foetus transmission is also possible. With early detection, the congenital form can be successfully prevented with appropriate treatment. Typical symptoms are swollen lymph nodes, ulcer at the site of entry of the infection (genitalia, anus mouth), and rash. The analysis is performed from a blood sample taken.

You will receive the result within 5 working days.

Herpes (HSV)

Microbiological examination for the detection of a sexually transmitted disease. Herpes simplex infection is caused by the HSV1 and HSV2 viruses. It is transmitted by contact with an infected person - by saliva or sexual intercourse, and in the case of an infected pregnant woman, mother-to-child transmission can occur during childbirth.

A typical symptom of a herpes infection is the development of cold sores. HSV1 causes cold sores mainly on the face, HSV2 is the most common cause of genital herpes. The specimen for analysis is collected by swabbing the genitals, rectum or throat.

You will receive the result within 5 working days.

Chlamydia, gonorrhea

Microbiological examination for the detection of a sexually transmitted disease. Chlamydial infections and gonorrhoea are among the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide. Chlamydial infection is caused by the Chlamydia trachomatis bacteria.

It is transmitted through sexual contact and if the infected woman is pregnant, the infection can be transmitted to the newborn during childbirth. Typical symptoms include urinary discomfort, discharge and pain during intercourse. Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. It is transmitted through sexual intercourse and from mother to child during childbirth. It is manifested by purulent, itchy inflammation and discharge. A sample for analysis is taken by swabbing the genitals, rectum or throat. Women can self-collect using a special self-collection kit.

You will receive the result within 5 working days.

Chlamydia antibodies

Serological determination of antibodies. Acute infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis is characterized by a predominance of IgA antibodies within 2-4 weeks after infection. After 68 weeks, specific IgG antibodies begin to form.

In acute chlamydial infections, the detection of IgA antibodies is an important diagnostic feature, but in recurrent or chronic infections, IgA antibodies are present at very low levels or not at all. The analysis is performed on a blood sample.

You will receive the result within 5 working days.

Hepatitis A, B, C

Hepatitis is an inflammatory disease of the liver that can be caused by viral infection, toxins, congenital diseases, drugs, alcohol abuse or autoimmune processes. The most common viral hepatitis are hepatitis A, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Depending on the course of the disease, they are divided into acute, which resolves within a few weeks or months, and chronic, which can persist for many years. Typical symptoms include fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, dark-coloured urine or light-coloured stools. With microbiological analysis, antibody levels and acute infection can be detected, allowing appropriate preventive or therapeutic measures to be taken.

You will receive the result within 3 working days.
